Adapttech: born in Portugal, raised in Europe and growing globally after securing £1.3M round!

04 . Apr . 2018
Adapttech is developing a new smart prosthetic-fitting solution that offers a faster and easier way to fit lower-limb prostheses and monitor patients’ rehabilitation.

Fitting a prosthesis takes time because technicians mostly rely on the discomfort reported by patients and a trial and error methodology. To improve this process, Adapttech developed the INSIGHT™ system, which consists of a scanner that creates a 3D model of the prosthesis socket, a wearable device which fits between the residual limb and the prosthesis and gathers data to pinpoint problem areas where the socket may need adjusting, and an App, through which healthcare professionals can access the results.

Today, we announce that Adapttech has closed a new £1.3 million funding round from Hovione Capital and Mercia Technologies. Adapttech will move its headquarters from Porto, Portugal to Birmingham, UK. This is a major step to the founders of the company, Mario Espinoza and Frederico Carpinteiro. Frederico commented that "this funding round will allow us to finish all the certification processes and start selling in Europe. The input from investors, their network and know-how will also help us achieve our milestones faster.”

This £1.3 million funding round was highlighted across several media agencies, such as FinSMEs, Business Cloud and TheBusinessDesk.
